Counseling Services

Being an adult and a member of society means you can live independently and should be capable of taking care of yourself and seeking and maintaining gainful employment. Our counselors work with students in recovery to evaluate their strengths and limitations. However, students in recovery are guarded in making decisions for long-term benefits.

Chaplain Services

Dive Foundation Chaplain provides spiritual or religious education to develop spiritual/interfaith knowledge, devotional habits, musical and artistic expression, and prayer. Support individuals in integrating into community spiritual and religious groups and congregations and advising community spiritual/religious groups and gatherings in ways to include people with disabilities in worship and other activities. Our chaplain evaluates individual spiritual needs and develops means to assist in spiritual expression.

Motivational Interviewing

The willingness of students in recovery clears the path for motivational interviewing. Our counselors establish relationships with students in recovery by building trust. An empathetic approach is a cornerstone of collaborating partnerships. We build solid cohesion to foster collaborative engagements. We demonstrate a willingness to validate the perspectives of students in recovery.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Negative thoughts lead to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. A belief in one’s mind that could make them drink or misuse drugs. Our therapists teach recovery students to replace negative self-talk with different thoughts. Our primary goal for this program is to restructure negative core beliefs that have been learned over time.

Family Therapy

Substance use disorder can affect the person struggling with it and their families and loved ones. We cannot deny that addiction harms families and can lead to negative consequences. Importantly, family therapy can be an essential part of our treatment plan. Dive Foundation is committed to improving communication skills and bolstering the family members’ understanding of addiction in supporting their loved ones with coping skills and behaviors.

Contingency Management

We offer incentives as rewards for good behavior and specific goal achievements. For example, our students in recovery (SR) sometimes receive incentives such as new uniforms, extra snacks, and vouchers that are exchanged for tangible goods for desirable behaviors. Conversely, incentives are only allowed when certain targeted behaviors are met.

Adaptive Reconditioning Program (ARP)

The Dive Foundation ARPs support students in their recovery process, helping them achieve success. The Adaptive Reconditioning Programs provide a range of activities that aid in rehabilitation and enhance mental, emotional, and physical health. Every student in the program will engage in adaptive reconditioning activities based on their physical abilities, working towards both short-term and long-term goals outlined in their comprehensive recovery program (CRP).

Self-Help Groups

Students in recovery are trained as group leaders. These leaders take charge of conducting group therapy. The therapeutic group sessions are conducted at different levels of care, including hospital-based inpatient, residential, and outpatient recovery programs. In addition, group therapy can be effective as individual therapy.

Transitional Coordinators

At Dive Foundation, our Transitional Coordinators support Students in Recovery by providing career guidance, educational opportunities, and job skills training. They also connect students with essential resources, like apprenticeship programs with local businesses and community groups, to help ease their transition back into society. A personalized transition plan is created based on each student's unique needs and goals, and in some cases, family members are included in the process.
